Gnip Gnop & Abuse

Brad swung this by my desk the other day; thanks man! It's an original Gnip Gnop game by Parker Brothers. Notice any resemblance to Gnip's logo? I'm particularly enjoying the condition the game is in; it's beat up with several glue and scotch tape repairs. It's condition is so indicative of the problems we're trying to solve with Gnip. People have been having so much fun sending things through hoops, that they've gotten careless and too aggressive. As a result things are breaking.

Whoa. I used to be addicted to this game until ... it broke. Something about the neon balls and the contained action that fosters a frenzy.

My younger sister got "GNIP GNOP" for Christmas in the early 1970's. I think we broke the support between two of the 'launcher buttons' on Christmas morning.

The game was just so addictive that you wanted to POUND on those launcher buttons as hard and as quickly as possible. The thin pieces of plastic holding the buttons, especially the center one, in place could not endure the repeated impacts.

My strategy was to see which button my sister was going to hit first, and counter on that one while launching a second ball simultaneously. That worked until she started slamming all three buttons at once, all the time.

That lasted until we broke the game that holiday morning.
